Thank you for letting me know that by clicking through the photo I could reach your page on the subject! I really enjoyed your post (and, as I miss my Astrophysics days terribly, I’m always happy to pass along a bit of solar-system love).
I suppose I could have looked up the radii of the different planets through Wolfram or somesuch and worked backwards to calculate your assumed height, but I think stating your assumptions in the Tumblr post, itself, would have been handy as well. Also, I’m grateful that you have the click-through source; most Tumblr posts aren’t nearly as well-made!
How’s the PhD going? Mine’s reached a bit of a stopping point, so I’m working on preliminary writing for my thesis.
